Introduction To Jewellery Making

This two-day course covers the use of tools and workshop discipline and teaches the techniques of:

  • Stone Setting
  • Silver Soldering
  • Shaping
  • Piercing (Sawing)
  • Texturing
  • Filing
  • Annealing (Softening Metal)
  • Finishing (Polishing)

The course also gives hands on experience of working with gilding metal and silver.

The lecturer for this course is Teresa Speer, who holds a BA (Hons) in jewellery.

Teresa is one of the schools resident lecturers and has exhibited both nationally and internationally.

In addition to this Teresa has lectured at both Loughborough University School of Art and Design and Birmingham City University.


The course is limited to six places this ensures that there is a good student to teacher ratio, however this does mean that places are limited and as such students are advised to book early to ensure a place on the course.
