In the Studio Jewellery School are delighted to announce that we have, at long last, moved our school to Alicante in Spain. Our first set of Spain-based courses are now viewable on our Calendar page and available to book.
All our lecturers have agreed to fly out to Spain to continue teaching their wonderful skills to old and new students, in fact they are looking forward to it.
The courses will be slightly shorter days from 9am to 1pm, therefore enabling the possibility of family and friends to also enjoy some of your company should they want to join you. We have already been contacted by a company who are organising trips to bodegas and sightseeing should any students and friends want to join in with other things. Our intention is that all should leave with our usual high standard of skills learnt but also have a wonderful experience visiting Spain.
We will be looking at more options for students as soon as we can. The closest beach of Guardamar is 15 minutes drive from us and Torrevieja 20 minutes, so if it’s a beach you are looking for it’s not far. Alicante airport is about 20 minutes away, we are located down a quiet country lane but close to villages and towns, nothing too far away.
Thank you all for your kind wishes on our facebook page, we really do appreciate them.
Very best wishes to you all and look forward to you joining us in the lovely warm sunshine.
This course will provide a friendly environment and expert tuition, allowing you to develop proficiency in many beading techniques, from which there is unlimited scope to produce further designs from your own imagination in the future.
The techniques you will learn on this course can be easily continued at home with a minimal amount of equipment.
This course covers a range of beading techniques and will give you the skills to produce your own beaded jewellery in a variety of styles.
The lecturer for this course is Teresa Speer, who holds a BA (Hons) in Jewellery. Teresa has been a teacher of jewellery-making for over 18 years and has been a practitioner of the jewellery trade for over a quarter of a century.
The course is limited to six places to ensure that there is a good student to teacher ratio, however this does mean that places are limited and as such students are advised to book early to ensure a place on the course.
In the morning, you learn the core essentials of beading, including stringing exercises and working with Beadalon wire to produce a beautiful natural stone and Bali bead necklace with Sterling Silver links and a natural stone Bali bead bracelet with fastening.
You will then create a bracelet using a bead knotting technique with a thick stringing cord.
This will help you to develop your skills in preparation for the pearl stringing.
After lunch, you will learn how to use wire both to attach beads together and to hang them as suspended elements.
The course will end with you knotting a beautiful freshwater pearl necklace with a silk cord, and finishing with gimp ends and silver fittings.
