In the Studio Jewellery School are delighted to announce that we have, at long last, moved our school to Alicante in Spain. Our first set of Spain-based courses are now viewable on our Calendar page and available to book.
All our lecturers have agreed to fly out to Spain to continue teaching their wonderful skills to old and new students, in fact they are looking forward to it.
The courses will be slightly shorter days from 9am to 1pm, therefore enabling the possibility of family and friends to also enjoy some of your company should they want to join you. We have already been contacted by a company who are organising trips to bodegas and sightseeing should any students and friends want to join in with other things. Our intention is that all should leave with our usual high standard of skills learnt but also have a wonderful experience visiting Spain.
We will be looking at more options for students as soon as we can. The closest beach of Guardamar is 15 minutes drive from us and Torrevieja 20 minutes, so if it’s a beach you are looking for it’s not far. Alicante airport is about 20 minutes away, we are located down a quiet country lane but close to villages and towns, nothing too far away.
Thank you all for your kind wishes on our facebook page, we really do appreciate them.
Very best wishes to you all and look forward to you joining us in the lovely warm sunshine.
We have been trying to organise Ronda to come and teach at our school since 2009, and it is now finally happening. She is flying in from the U.S.A. specially to teach our students the secrets of Argentium silver. We are so excited as she is the world’s leading teacher (and trainer of teachers in Argentium) and worker in Argentium. Peter Johns, the inventor of Argentium, will also be joining us for the full three-day course.
In this three day class, explore the technology and techniques required to work with Argentium Silver, a revolutionary alloy that has amazing characteristics. Argentium is .935, does not fire scale and is tarnish resistant. The material’s ability to be fused without solder adds to its appeal. Master goldsmith, Ronda Coryell, will provide expert instruction and close-up demos. Students learn the process of fusing both flat and three-dimensional forms. Demonstrations are followed by hands-on experience to create earrings, rings, and a bead.
Four projects in 3 days - 2 rings, earrings and bead
Optional: Students may bring 18 k or 22k gold. High karat gold fuses beautifully to Argentium.
Ronda Coryell is one of the world’s most well-regarded experts in Argentium Silver. Ronda is a top level Jewelers of America Certified Master Bench Jeweler, holds a BS degree in Art Education and founded the Northwest Chapter of the Florida Society of Goldsmiths. After owning her own jewelry store for a number of years, she has devoted the past 15 years to teaching around the world. Her work has won recognition in competition and exhibition.
Materials Cost: £120
The course is limited to six places to ensure that there is a good student to teacher ratio, however this does mean that places are limited and as such students are advised to book early to ensure a place on the course.
