Course Descriptions


'In the Studio' has gained a reputation for being an excellent, short course, residential and non-residential school for the creation of jewellery.

The courses cover all aspects of jewellery making. From the complete beginner to the advanced jeweller, we have a course that will suit your requirements.

The school offers a very high standard of tuition from competent and experienced lecturers. Where a specialised subject is taught, a visiting lecturer who is a skilled professional working within that specialist field is brought in for the course.

Examples of this are - 'Stone Setting', 'Engraving', 'Mokume Gane', and 'Stone Cutting'. Another area of interest exclusively for the retail jeweller is our course on 'Jobbing Jewellery', where it may be possible to do some of the work in house.

'In the Studio' jewellery school is situated in the interesting and historical village of Kegworth. Close to the Ml and M42, with Derby, Nottingham and Leicester all a short drive away. East Midlands airport is just five minutes by taxi.

Loughborough University is approximately 4 miles away with some of the lecturers acquiring their BA hons degrees in the University jewellery making department.

In The Studio workshop 'In the Studio' offers a very well equipped workshop in a converted Victorian Barn.
The accommodation is within the grounds in a delightful Victorian cottage, and residential students have the opportunity to choose from four very individual and very pleasant rooms. Two of these rooms offer en-suite facilities.
A continental breakfast is provided in the cottage dining room for residential students.

Please note classes are limited to a maximum of six students. Our courses are for adults only, they are not suitable for children.
