The tutor Christine Dhein is a jewellery
designer author and educator. She is the
assistant Director and an Instructor at
the Revere Academy of jewellery arts in
San Francisco. She is also the founder of
'Green Jewelry News', an electronic newsletter
designed to keep jewellers up to date eco-friendly
studio practices and tips.
This course includes an acid-free,
eco-friendly etching project.The kit fee
for the acid free etching and rivetting
projects will be £40.00. If you have
always wanted to try etching but don't want
to use harmful chemicals,this class is for
you. Christine will demonstrate step-by-step
methods for acid-free etching, offering
a healthier and more eco-friendly alternative
to traditional etching. Learn how to mask
intricate patterns and prepare a salt-water
etching solution. Then learn how to make
your own electrolytic etching bath with
simple, readily available supplies. Instruction
includes how to ensure a consistent etch
and factors that effect the depth of each
etch. This technique produces great results
on both copper and silver.
Instruction includes basic,
ball and tube riveting, as well as making
jigs and spacers, accurate layout, drilling
and counter-sinking.
