The tutor Rachel Allen, has been
stringing beads for 17 years and is an expert
with techniques used in this art form. On
completion of this course students will
be capable of designing and producing jewellery
using the various techniques learned. Bead
stringing requires a minimum amount of tools.
The morning will be spent
covering a basic bead stringing exercise
to produce a beautiful natural stone necklace
from a choice of beads. The fastening used
will be a calotte clasp. A lovely and vibrant
bracelet will then be produced using a bead
knotting technique and finished off with
a lobster clasp.

After lunch, time will be
spent designing and making a flapper-style
necklace with beads and a tassel you have
chosen from the selection provided. The
course will end with full instruction on
how to knot a fresh water pearl necklace,
finishing with gimp ends and sterling silver
fittings.

For £30.00 Rachel will
provide all the necessary beads, thread
and findings to complete the items detailed
on this course (payable on the day to Rachel).
Should you wish to provide some or all of
your beads, clasps etc. then the materials
charge will be adjusted as necessary.
This course will give you
an insight into some of the various techniques
required for beading from which there is
unlimited scope to produce designs from
your own imagination with the skills you
have been taught.
